INFO: The Park of Punta Campanella is looking for 4 volunteers from 3 different countries (Portugal, France – Ile de la Reunion, Spain – Canary Islands) to complete the team of 6 volunteers for a long-term EVS (9 months) in South Italy (near Naples), concerning nature conservation and environmental education in the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella. Volunteers will live in a shared accommodation in one of the small villages of the Park (about 60km far from Naples).

STARTING DATE: 8th march 2018  ||  ENDING DATE: 8th of december 2018  ||  DURATION: 9 months

HOSTING ORGANISATION: Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanellalogoparcoma

VOLUNTEER TEAM: 6 volunteers from Portugal (2), Latvia, France (Ile de la Reunion), Spain (Canary Islands), Germany. They will work together with the park’s team, and in collaboration with some local organisations.

VENUE: Massa Lubrense, NA, South Italy

TOPIC: Marine Park – Marine Protection and Conservation – Environmental Education – Ecotourism

WORKING TIME: 30 hours/week, from monday to sunday, 2 weekly free days + 2 monthly free days

DUTIES: the project cover the travel expenses to join our site + monthly food money (150€) + monthly pocket money (115€)

VOLUNTEER’S PROFILE: The project is for people that loves nature and sea sports, that wants to enjoy an experience far from the city, where there is just few people living in spring and autumn and a lot of tourists during summer. The Park would like to host people who are interested in volunteering (help to make a better world), in marine environment and who have a passion for environmental conservation. This project is particularly suitable for youth who have a penchant for marine biology and nautical activities as boating; and for those who love marine sports as canoeing, snorkeling, and swimming. Other skills/competences like photographers, videomakers, bloggers, physical trainers are well evaluated.

VOLUNTEER’S DAILY PROGRAM:

  • TRAINING (march-may) – Italian language – park exploration – park management – marine biology – kayaking and snorkeling – environmental communication methods
  • OFFICE WORK (march-june) – reports – blog posts – video and photo archive – secretary – prepare environmental education laboratories – etc
  • FIELD WORK (june-october) – park monitoring (on boat, on kayak, swimming and snorkeling) – beach leanings (also sea and paths) – park presentation to special groups of visitors
  • Environmental education in town (june-july) on field (july-september) in school (october-november)
